<Molecule-b> is a work by Chungho Lee, installed in Sejongro Park. ‘Molecule-b’ has a meaningless title and contains the charm of digging into secrets by cracking passwords. He assigned unique numbers to each consonant and vowel based on the unique combination of Hangeul, and created an experimental font with a combined shape that resembles the structure of a molecule. The artist explained the planning intention as “Unlike the Roman alphabet, Hangeul, which is composed of a combination of simple geometric formative elements, has a logical order and structure of consonants and vowels. This experimental font deciphers the structure of the 14 consonants and 10 vowels of Hangeul and shows how the letters are made, and can show the beauty of the systematic combination of Hangeul.” In fact, Hangeul is said to be the most well-crafted character among all characters. It also originates from the scientific characteristics of creating concise yet infinite characters of Hangeul. Letters and images were engraved on a 720mm x 150mm iron plate and attached to the top of the park flower bed.
